pcrossley@sungazette.com The Williamsport Area School District is expected to receive almost $9 million as part of the $2.2 billion in federal stimulus funds being dedicated by the Wolf administration to help K-12 school districts and charter schools statewide provide much needed financial support during the COVID-19 pandemic. April 7, 1925 – January 9, 2021 On Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, Arthur (Art) T. Searer, loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 95. Art Was born on April 7, 1925 in Frankstown Township, to Emory and Rosetta (Campbell) Searer, and grew up in Lewistown. He served the U.S. Army from April 1946 through July 1947, where he was stationed in the Pacific, most notably, Korea. After serving his country and receiving an honorable discharge, Art returned to central Pennsylvania and became the proprietor of several Atlantic Service Stations in Harrisburg, as well as Town & Country Buick in Jersey Shore. While there, he was also one of the original founders of the Citizens Hose Company of Jersey Shore, now known as the Jersey Shore Area EMS.

Brewery gets state grant to expand operations | News, Sports, Jobs

A $1 million state grant has been secured to help a Jersey Shore-area business become one of the state leaders in the nation’s craft beer industry, a state lawmaker and its co-founder said. Bald Birds Brewing Co. is a recipient of the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant, according to state Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Loyalsock Township, who advocated for the grant from the state Office of Budget of Gov. Tom Wolf. The funding will help the facility, located in Porter Township, transition to a 153,000-square-foot brewery and events center, Yaw said. At the core of the project is a state-of-the-art manufacturing, product-packaging and shipping enterprise.
