“Please be informed that as of February 25th, 2021, Jersey City Branch NAACP #2086 Charter has been suspended … Subsequently, I have offered by resignation to State President Mr. Richard Smith and to National,” the text message said.
“Until further notice, all officers are out of office.”
Legay did not return a call seeking comment on Friday, but several members confirmed the text message from Legay was authentic.
The New Jersey NAACP also could did not return an email asking to confirm if the JC NAAP’s charter had been suspended or not.
