ALLIANCE When the first movement of Frédéric Chopin s Concerto No. 1 fills Maira Liliestedt s ears, she feels a sense of heartbreak and hope. There s a lot of fight (in this piece), so to me it feels like someone fighting to work through really difficult times, Liliestedt said.
The 43-year-old pianist used to play a recording of the piece whenever she felt down. For years, she dreamed of performing it, but she wasn t certain that goal would come to life.
When the pandemic hit, Liliestedt decided to begin learning the piece. This fall, she plans to perform it with the Alliance Symphony Orchestra.
