The principal issue through the appeal related to the scope of project objectives, alternatives and analysis of [speaker not understood] population and employment, transportation, air quality and Greenhouse Gas emissionses in the eir. These issues have been previously addressed in the departments eir comments and responses document published january 9, 2012. Therefore the Planning Department recommended rejection of the eir appeal for reasons stated in its july 9, 2012 responses to appeal memorandum to the board ~ and supplemental staff testimony provided at the previous july 17th, 2012 appeal hearing. During the pendency of the appeal, the project sponsor cpmc has a revised project to include a smaller Cathedral Hill and larger st. Lukes campus. Relative to the previous project. Planning Department Staff has reviewed the revised project and notes that its similar but not identical to alternative create the alternative that was found to be environmentally superior in the eir. June 12, 2012, the board had the hearing, it now states on july 17th, 2012, and march 12th, 2013, the board held the hearing. And then as our clerk just pointed out, she is not offering the motion. On May 12, high school students had the opportunity to join local employers for a virtual National Skilled Trades Day panel discussion aimed at highlighting skilled trades careers.
Among the panelists were Jerry Meister, Optimal Construction founder; Scott Milas, project director at Mendel; Troy Piper, senior project manager at Slaten Construction; Paula A. Price, AIA, LEED A.P., CDCP, Batir Architecture Ltd; Humberto Raya, operations manager at Rieke Office Interiors; Thomas J. Rothengass, president at T.A.K. Drywall Specialists, Inc.; and Muhummad Starks, managing director, Construction Risk Management at Schramm Construction.
e-i-rs tend to be so, i just wanted to make a few quick comments. ~ since this is the first sequel [speaker not understood] here as a member of the board and since this particular environmental impact report started well before i was elected, i just want to offer some brief comments. when evaluating e-i-rs, i believe i have a specific legal obligation. i am asked to determine if the document is adequate, accurate, and objective and reflective of the independent judgment of the city and that s all. this is not a proxy vote on the merits of the project or my feelings about a particular developer. it is an assessment of the adequacy, accuracy, and objective objectivity of the environmental impact report. in this particular case, the e-i-r process has been lengthy and public, spanning four drafts in several years. i have reviewed the report and the supporting materials and familiar with the proceedings that transpired before i became supervisor. and the report carefully details
