Craig, for the first time in its more than 100year history, the boy scouts have decided to admit girls into scouting, cub scouts and scouting, and allow girls to achieve the coveted rank of eagle scout, which is scoutings highest honor. We learned this was a unanimous vote by the boy scouts board of directors. Theyll have a twophase program here. Theyll begin allowing younger girls to become cub scouts starting next year. The cub scout units will either be all girls or all girls. Local units can have both or either one, whichever they chose. They will be single gender organizations. The following year in 2019, the boy scouts will begin establishing a program for girls that will allow them to get to the rank of eagle scout.
