Addressing educational inequity on Staten Island: ‘Who’s to blame?’

In an effort to seek the root causes of the educational struggles seen predominantly on the North Shore, an ad-hoc committee of the Staten Island branch of the NAACP gathered a panel of educators, administrators and community leaders to participate in a recent virtual forum. STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The Staten Island chapter of the NAACP recently hosted a virtual forum on educational inequities in the borough and the various challenges including low proficiency rates in reading and math and chronic absenteeism facing many schools on the North Shore.
