Manila Water readies over 3,300 fire hydrants for summer months

MANILA - The Manila Water Company (Manila Water), through its partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), is actively taking measures to prevent damage to property and loss of lives due to fire incidents, especially during summer months. The water firm has checked and maintained its 3,368 fire hydrants strategically placed in the East Zone of Metro Manila and parts of Rizal province. "Fire hydrants are very crucial in preventing further damage to property, injuries and even loss of lives. That's why we make it a point that these hydrants are serviced annually before the summer months," Manila Water corporate communications affairs group director Jeric Sevilla said in a statement on Monday. MANILA - The Manila Water Company's (Manila Water) social flagship program, Tubig Para sa Barangay (TPSB), continues to provide service improvements to 1.8 million Filipinos in marginalized communities in the East Zone of Metro Manila. "By connecting them to our waterlines, these households are assured of clean and potable water which contribute to better community health. Illegal water connections are prone to breakages which lead to contamination and cause gastrointestinal diseases to the residents," Manila Water corporate communications affairs group director Jeric Sevilla said in statement on Friday. "TPSB also lessens the company's system losses or non-revenue water by connecting these households properly and legally," he said. MANILA - Manila Water Company (Manila Water) on Thursday announced its desludging schedule for this month as it encouraged its customers in the East Zone of Metro Manila and Rizal province to avail of the services to prevent clogging and overflowing of their septic vaults. The water and wastewater company also reminded its customers to coordinate with their respective barangay offices on the exact schedule of its free desludging services. "We cannot overemphasize the importance of desludging in protecting our environment as well as promoting sanitation within the homes. Regular desludging would prevent clogging of septic vaults that may cause overflow and contaminate groundwater," Manila Water Communication Affairs Group director Jeric Sevilla said in a statement on Thursday.
