The suit, filed in the US District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, comes a week after a child died the morning after he arrived at the troubled youth camp in Lake Toxaway.
A 12-year-old boy died less than 24 hours after he was transported to Trails Carolina Camp from New York. Police said his death appeared suspicious and the camp is not fully cooperating.
Trails Carolina is under the spotlight after an unnamed pre-teen died at the facility on Saturday. Former participants who went to the camp in have described conditions as not humane .
