Eight Men s Volleyball Players Earn All-GPAC Notice Posted Wednesday, April 14, 2021
(Tuesday, April 13; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Great Plains Athletic Conference has announced its first ever Men’s Volleyball All-GPAC teams following the conclusion of the recently completed 2021 season. Dordt had eight athletes honored in voting done by the conference coaches.
Andres Guzman (Freshman; Bogota, Colombia) and Caleb Kulesza (Sophomore; Chicago, Illinois) were named to the first-team while Luke Nelson (Sophomore; Oak Grove, Minnesota), Levi Ewald (Junior; Terrace, British Columbia) and Shavon Barker (Senior; Bridgetown, Barbados) were included on the second-team. Ottawa was 6-10 this season and 2-4 in league play with wins over Dordt and Morningside in the conference.
Ottawa is averaging 11.8 kills per set with a .192 kill efficiency and they average 2.0 points per set off of blocks.
Ashan Jordan averages 3.1 kills per set with a .210 kill efficiency and Brennan Hagar puts down 2.87 kills per set with 1.89 digs per contest and has 19 ace serves. Cade Berg averages 2.1 kills per outing and has 11 ace serves. Tyler Gardenhire averages 7.5 assists per set with 2.1 digs.
THE DEFENDERS…
The Defenders are 7-10 this season and Dordt turned in a 3-3 GPAC record.
Caleb Kulesza leads the Dordt effort with 4.2 kills per set and a .265 kill efficiency and he also has a 2.1 digs per set average. Andres Guzman has a 2.5 kills per set average and has a team high 19 ace serves and averages 1.7 digs per set and has handled 94 percent of his serve receptions cleanly.
