Lafayette Township Fire to take over Greenville s emergency service operations

Lafayette Township Fire Chief Jeremy Klein said combining forces will boost manpower and improve response times. There were times that they may not have anybody to respond and the first apparatus on scene in Greenville might have been us, Klein said. So by now having people at that station to respond in that area is obviously a win-win situation.   Klein said Greenville will now have a mix of paid firefighters as well as volunteers. He said they have hired nine new members, bringing the total to 47 firefighters between the two stations, which he says will provide a solid crew for both locations, as well as other added benefits.

Floyd County first responders weigh pros, cons of merger

Floyd County Commissioners will be discussing the merger at their upcoming public meeting. Author: Ellen Smith Updated: 6:52 PM EST December 17, 2020 FLOYD COUNTY, Ind. Floyd County commissioners are considering a merger for four fire districts, Franklin, Greenview LaFayette, and Georgetown. Jeremy Klein, LaFayette Township Fire Protection Chief, says this merger is a long time coming.  “For those of who have been around for a long time this isn’t nothing new, said Klein.  Klein said a merger was considered fifteen years ago, but logistics related to equipment, and an increase in taxes caused it to be turned down.  As of right now, Klein is concerned with the response time. He says a merger would help fire services better serve the community.

Chesapeake Beach planners OK resort s redevelopment change

One of northern Calvert’s largest tourist draws was given a nod to revise its expansion plan, despite concerns from some local officials. The second phase of the Rod ‘N’ Reel Resort’s redevelopment project was presented to the Chesapeake Beach Planning and Zoning Commission Tuesday night. The virtual meeting lasted over three hours. A previous town planning board had approved the second phase but because the resort’s owners decided to tweak the plan, which will expand the hotel, town planning administrator Chris Jakubiak felt the panel needed to sign off on the changes. “It’s a major revision,” said Jakubiak.
