The US-based company has been in the eye of a storm over its alleged failure to comply with the new IT rules in India, which mandates, among other requirements, the appointment of three key personnel chief compliance officer, nodal officer and grievance officer by social media platforms with over 50 lakh users. All the three personnel have to be residents in India.

Twitter Twitter India has appointed Vinay Prakash as its new interim Resident Grievance Officer. The move comes days after the Delhi High Court directed interim officers appointed by Twitter Inc under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (IT Rules, 2021) to file affidavits stating that they will be responsible for dealing with any grievances raised. On June 21, Twitter s earlier interim grievance officer, Dharmendra Chatur, withdrew from the post.
