Jeremy Kappell, fired over racial slur on TV, now peddles right-wing misinformation
Kappell, who worked in TV news for two decades, condemned the violence at the Capitol, but said he was in the middle on the message of the QAnon conspiracy.

Most Rochesterians remember Jeremy Kappell as the weatherman who was fired for uttering a racial slur while mispronouncing Martin Luther King Jr. during a broadcast on Jan. 4, 2019.
Kappell never apologized for the mistake, insisting instead that it was merely garbled words that had been the utterance of sounds. He cast himself as the victim of a vindictive social mob and quickly found solace on the far-right reaches of the internet.
6000 National Guard Troops Arrive In DC To Beef Up Security

Around 6,000 National Guard troops have been activated from multiple states. They are expected to arrive in the Washington Metropolitan Area within the next 48 hours to beef up security around the US Capitol complex, according to AP.
Update: They have started to arrive.

Deployment of Guard troops come in the wake of deadly riots at the Capitol building on Wednesday and ahead of the Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 20 that could incite another wave of violence.

The damaging winds have passed, but winter has returned to the Finger Lakes.

Several large trucks were reported as overturned on major interstates around Rochester; and a tree was reported down on State Route 96 in Ontario County, as well.
In Canandaigua crews responded to the report of a mobile home coming apart due to the high winds; and in Webster a home was heavily damaged after a large tree was uprooted and crashed through the roof.
The occupants were not seriously hurt, but firefighters had to crawl through debris to get the 75-year-old out.
