Jayne Susanne Cushman. SOUTH THOMASTON  Jayne Susanne Cushman, 64, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones after a five-year battle with frontal temporal dementia. Jayne was born in Rockland on July 4, 1957, to Jeanie and Edward Billings. As a child Jayne loved spending time on her father’s ground fishing boat. From a young age, she especially enjoyed caring for her horses. Over the years, she won many trophies and ribbons for barrel racing and showing horses. She had an enormous love for all animals and was very much a “farm girl.” She graduated from Rockland District High School, Class of 1975. After graduating, she waitressed at several local restaurants where she met her life-long friend, Francesca “Muffi” Thorn.

Stone Bridge Middle School robotics team debuts with successful season Stone Bridge Middle School robotics team debuts with successful season During the 2020-21 academic year a competitive Lego robotics team was established at the Stone Bridge Middle School, which enrolls children from Allentown and Upper Freehold Township. Melissa Domen, the business leader of the Allentown High School robotics team, is the founder of the middle school team, according to a press release. The name of the team, True North Robotics, unites the school’s motto of “Finding Your True North” with the students’ passion for robotics. With the guidance of high school students on Redbird Robotics, 14 middle school students have learned programming, building and teamwork skills, while having a successful rookie season, according to Domen.

State Patrol Dec. 18, 7:49 p.m., on Ohio 18 in Defiance County s Noble Township, a vehicle driven by Melissa Karzynow, 42, Sherwood, struck a deer. Damage was light to the vehicle. Saturday, 5:44 p.m., on Carpenter Road in Defiance County s Adams Township, a vehicle driven by Lora Ripke, 43, Archbold, struck a deer. Damage was light to the vehicle. Saturday, 9:30 p.m., on Harrison Street in Sherwood, vehicles driven by Michael Kelley, 41, Sherwood, and Michelle Manley, 30, 13762 Ohio 18, collided. Kelley was cited for failure to yield. Manley was taken by Sherwood EMS to ProMedica Defiance Hospital with suspected minor injuries. Damage was heavy to the vehicles.
