The children were Brody, 11, and Rex, 14, both avid youth baseball players. The family was friends with Florida coach Kevin “Sully” O Sullivan. The University Athletic Association declined immediately to comment.
Back in Gainesville, about 50 miles east of the fire, investigators from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office were interviewing neighbors in the gated community around the family’s $900,000 home in west Gainesville. Spokeswoman Lt. Kaley Behl said Dixie County authorities had asked for assistance with what it described as a “murder-suicide joint investigation.”
A spokesman for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Jeremy Burns, said the agency would be involved in the investigation and any forensic work.

A father was suspected of killing his two young sons early Tuesday – including an 11-year-old who was regularly the batboy for the No. 10-ranked University of Florida baseball team – setting on fire his family’s waterfront vacation home in nearby Cross City then killing himself, authorities said.

By his own admission, Abel Garantche was “pretty chubby” when he first stepped on the mat for the Central Crossing wrestling program.
Weighing in at 260-plus pounds, Garantche referred to himself as a “super heavyweight.” He wasn’t comfortable in his own skin and decided a change was necessary. Garantche dropped weight to wrestle at 220 and has found success on and off the mat.
Garantche was 21-4 overall before a quad Feb. 6 at Jonathan Alder. Last season, he was a Division I district qualifier, going 2-2 at 220 to finish 29-17.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Jonesboro police arrested a man after a Snapchat message revealed he had beaten a woman.
According to a probable cause affidavit, police went to the 1800-block of Kathleen Street on Dec. 25 regarding a welfare check.
The victimâs family reportedly received a Snapchat message showing the victim with a swollen eye, busted lip, and blood all over.
Police found the victim motionless in the bathtub of the residence.
The probable cause affidavit noted the victim and Jeremy Burns, 27, of Jonesboro had been arguing.
