How the federal grant program for restaurants will help these owners (and their staff) recover CNN 2 hrs ago © Courtesy Amanda Dixon The federal Restaurant Revitalization Fund launched last week, aiming to offer direct aid to struggling restaurant owners and caterers who were among the hardest hit by pandemic restrictions on gatherings. The White House said that more than 180,000 applications were submitted in the first few days after the $28.6 billion program s May 3 launch. And on Monday, the Small Business Administration said it had already approved more than 16,000 applicants. Those applicants were drawn from a pool of women-owned, vet-owned and minority-owned restaurants, groups which are being given priority in the program s first three weeks.

LAS CRUCES – Walking With Herb is now on the big screen.  The Las Cruces movie, years in the making, was shown for a large audience for the first time Thursday with a red carpet premiere at Amador Live. “Walking with Herb  filmed in Las Cruces in 2018 is based off the 2015 novel of the same name by Joe Bullock, of First American Bank in Las Cruces. The book was adapted into a screenplay by the late Tony Award winner Mark Medoff, also a longtime New Mexico State University professor, and was directed by Medoff s son-in-law Ross Marks, the executive director of the Las Cruces International Film Festival and NMSU professor.

04/28/2021 Maybe it’s because I grew up in California with parents who were Southern California natives, but avocados have always been a part of my diet. We had them on salads, in omelets, as guacamole, and, of course, we had avocado toast before it was a cultural phenomenon. (When Mom didn’t feel like working hard for a meal, the suggestion might be “Want some avocado on toast?” Of course we did!) Lately, I’ve realized that perhaps my California avocado-loving roots have given me some insider knowledge about caring for these delicious fruits (yes, they are a fruit). In honor of the kick-off of avocado season and as a Cinco de Mayo treat, I thought I’d share some awesome avocado advice from experts.
