POSCO International has decided to expand its steel trading and energy businesses in Southeast Asia and Australia to help boost Korea s faltering outbound shipments, company officials said Thursday.
POSCO International CEO Jeong Tak visited Uzbekistan on Monday to request support for the Korean port city of Busan s bid to host the 2030 Expo, the company said Wednesday. Jeong, who is also a private bid committee member for the World Expo, met with Governor of Fergana Hayrulla Bozarov, Vice Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Oybek Khamraev and Vice Minister of Agriculture Kakhramon Yuldashev to ask for their support.
The merger between POSCO International and POSCO Energy will fuel the company s global energy competitiveness and help create a global powerhouse for the energy sector, the company said, Monday. The integrated corporation of POSCO International and POSCO Energy was officially launched on Jan. 1.
POSCO President Jeong Tak was promoted to vice chairman and was appointed as the new CEO of POSCO International, a move that will see it merge with POSCO Energy on Jan. 2, according to POSCO Group, Tuesday. His appointment comes as the group carries out a year-end reshuffle of its president-level executives.
