The tub and lid for the new K3-F packaging for Knorr bouillon powder have been produced from 100 percent certified circular PP from post-consumer plastic material for the first time.
Greiner Packaging has developed a tub and lid for customer Unilever s Knoff brand of bouilllion powder that offers a more sustainable option to standard cardboard and packaging combinations.
The container uses 100 percent certified postconsumer polypropylene and was created within the scope of a pilot project with global petrochemical leader Sabic and brand owner Unilever.
The package uses PP from Sabic’s Trucircle portfolio, produced through the feedstock recycling of used and mixed plastic otherwise destined for incineration or landfill. These waste plastics are broken down into the original molecular building blocks, by heating these at a high temperature in an oxygen-free environment, producing pyrolysis oil. The pyrolysis oil then enters Sabic’s production chain, just
