This year, the commission only has five weeks, and it's considering major changes to the democratic process including raising the bar for ballot initiatives and canceling general elections if one candidate wins a high enough portion of the primary vote.
A special commission reviewing Kansas City, Missouri’s charter will host its final listening session Monday night to gather public feedback on a variety of proposals affecting the city’s elections.
The last commission took five months to complete the once-every-decade review of the 57-page document that sets the rules for how Kansas City government operates. This one was given a six-week deadline.
