You win some, you lose some: No. 10 Cal breaks even in first 2 home games

As one of the nation’s best, the No. 10 Cal women’s soccer team was supposed to stretch out its winning streak for longer than just two games. But the concept of “supposed to” isn’t necessarily one that always holds weight in sports.
After firing off seven more shots, one more shot on goal and six more corners than Colorado, Cal’s performance Friday was near perfect. Yet it wasn’t quite enough to snag a third-straight victory.
“As a team, disappointment on Friday was just not being able to finish,” said Keely Roy, a sophomore striker and transfer from USF. “It was almost more disappointing when you know you’re almost the better team in holding more possession and having more chances.”
STANFORD, Calif. Colorado overcame an early Stanford goal to play even with the No. 23 Cardinal for much of the match at Maloney Field at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium on Sunday. Stanford threw the fatal blow in the 88th minute, escaping the Buffaloes grasp, 2-1.
Stanford (3-2-0, 2-1-0 Pac-12) got on the board right out of the gate in the 4th, due in part to a rare mishandle in net. The Buffs kept pushing the remainder of the half to get the equalizer, with their efforts coming to fruition in the 45th minute off the head of
