As an elite athlete I thought I knew my body completely. I trained and competed for the best part of 20 years with a team of amazing experts around me. But the one aspect I never really thought about was my menstrual cycle. Throughout my career it was something that happened in the background, there was never really any conversation about how it would affect my training, my mood, or how my body might fluctuate throughout the month.
