LA CROSSE (WKBT) The La Crosse Common Council has passed an ordinance that will get rid of a supermajority vote when residents object to a rezoning petition.
City planners and legislators say La Crosse s zoning laws need a massive overhaul, and the a committee recommended hiring consultants to help with the process. Funding is available through American Rescue Plan grants and leftover Comprehensive Plan money.
La Crosse may soon change its voting mechanisms for zoning, repealing supermajority votes for zone amendments. The ordinance would put the city in compliance with state law before the January deadline to adhere.
