When Central Kitsap High School students formed the Kitsap Youth Activism Team in the spring in response to George Floyd s death at the hands of police in Minnesota, Jennifer Rumpke and other teachers in Central Kitsap’s social studies department felt compelled to act.  “We were inspired by our students … organizing to be a part of something bigger and to be part of change,” Rumpke said. “Our department was just really impressed and we wanted to do something to show that we support their engagement and that reflected their interest in getting involved.”
