Christine M. Petersen, 72, of Johnstown, NY, passed away following a sudden cerebral hemorrhage on Feb. 20, 2021, at Albany Medical Center.
Chris was born on April 27, 1948, to the late William and Mary (Tontarski) Monnat in Watertown, New York.
She was a 1966 graduate of Johnstown High School and 1970 graduate of SUNY Oneonta with a BA in education. Chris took her first education position in Madison, WI after she married David A. Petersen, her high school sweetheart and lifelong partner. She and Dave returned to the local area to continue their careers in education and start a family. Chris began teaching elementary education at Mayfield Central School District and later history, at the high school, for 31 years until she retired.
