A York City man accused in a botched robbery over a pound of marijuana which ended in the shooting death of 41-year-old Whispering Wind Bear Spirit last month is facing trial.
Two brothers face homicide charges in connection with the May 3 shooting death of a 41-year-old York City resident, according to a York City Police Department news release.

YORK, Pa. Police have charged a 19-year-old York man in connection to a May 3 shooting that killed a woman on the 300 block of Smyser Street.
Whispering Wind Bear Spirit, 41, who was also once known as Jennifer Jean Makos, died of a single gunshot wound sustained during an attempted robbery of the residence, police say. The incident occurred around 11:25 p.m. Bear Spirit was transported to a local hospital, where she died during emergency surgery at 1:15 a.m. on May 4, according to police.
Oscar Cook, of the 1500 block of Wayne Ave., is one of several suspects accused of participating in the robbery, according to police. He was charged Monday with burglary, robbery, and conspiracy to commit burglary and robbery in connection to the incident.

A 41-year-old person shot to death Tuesday morning in the city of York has been identified, according to the York County Coroner.
Whispering Wind Bear Spirit, also once known as Jennifer Jean Makos, was shot in a friend’s house, where they had been staying. The shooting happened in the 300 block of Smyser Street.
Makos name was released Friday after the coroner’s office was able to locate the next of kin.
An autopsy was completed on Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, however, results are still pending. The case is being investigated as a homicide, officials said.
