BENNINGTON â A comedy-drama about two strangers brought together by circumstance, a one-woman play about the wife of William Shakespeare and an adaptation of a Henry James classic will be coming to the stage during Oldcastle Theatre Companyâs 49th season this summer.
âItâs been a challenging year for everyone and we are so excited bring live entertainment back to Southern Vermont,â said Nathan Stith, the artistic director of Oldcastle, the professional theater company in residence at the Bennington Performing Arts Center.
âThere are things that theater can do better than any other medium, and the shows weâve chosen for this season do just that,â Stith said. âThey are plays which celebrate the human desire to connect, the importance of an indomitable spirit, and the power of imagination.â

BENNINGTON â Oldcastle Theatre Company, which like many other performing arts groups across the country was forced to cancel its season last year because of the coronavirus pandemic, will produce a three-show summer season, the organization announced. We re just super excited, artistic director Nathan Stith said in a phone interview on Monday.
The first performance is slated for July 9, according to the announcement, which said the company is finalizing details with Actorsâ Equity Association, the union that represents stage actors and managers, and plans to formally unveil more specifics about the season in mid-May. Tickets will go on sale at that time through oldcastletheatre.org.
