ELLINGTON A chicken barbecue benefit for longtime Ellington resident Debbie (Brown) Rexford, who has been battling cancer for 10 years, will be held at the Ellington Fire Hall on May 16 from 1-4 p.m.
The fire hall is located at 769 W. Main St. in Ellington.
Dinners include barbecued chicken, potato or macaroni salad, applesauce, a roll and a cookie. Adult dinners are $12, children’s dinners are $7, and chicken only is $7.
The dinner is take-out only, and must be pre-ordered by May 7 by calling or texting Jennifer Gagnon at 450-0030.
Those desiring to make a monetary donation toward the dinners’ expenses, to contribute food items or to donate a basket for the Chinese auction, may contact Jennifer Gagnon at the number above.

MANCHESTER, NH. â In this after-school hangout, you wonât hear the sounds of video games or movies. Instead, the teenagers here are stepping up to help out.
Theyâll pack almost 700 hundred meals a week for students whose families cannot afford food.
High school junior Joe Mikol started Fueled By Kids with his sisters. The family project is now feeding students in 20 schools, making sure lunch in the cafeteria isnât their last meal.
âThere is about 90 percent of kids in most of these elementary schools that we re helping, that will report that they don t get food over the weekends,â said Mikol.
