It s been 14 months since the Pensacola Mardi Gras Parade the largest annual outdoor extravaganza in the city summoned tens of thousands of people to Pensacola to enjoy the festivities.
But that hiatus ends next week.
While it s not technically branded as Mardi Gras, this year s Carnivale will embody that same Mardi Gras spirit when the Carnivale Kick Off Celebration gets started Friday, May 21,
The kickoff is the precursor to the Saturday, May 29, Pensacola Grand Carnivale Parade. Carnivale is replacing the 2021 Mardi Gras Parade, which was postponed at the beginning of the year because of COVID-19 concerns.
The kickoff May 21 will be a huge outdoor party at Roger Scott Athletic Complex.
