i am eun yang in for keith garvin thi morning. we are going to take a look at the top stories in a moment, but first a look at the weather. for now everything is very wet outside. not much in the way of rain coming down, but mist and drizzle and rain overnight left morning. a few more scattered showers moving on the parts of the shenandoah valley. we won t see anything like the heavy steadyain we saw overnight last night. most neighborhoods picking up between an inch and inch and a half of rain. and it s a milder start outside first thing this morning compared to yesterday. we will have many more dry hours to come and then a chance of a brief passing shower today. most of the afternoon will be usable for outdoor activities. thank you, chuck. police say they are trying to figure out what led a father to kill his family. he murdered his wife and two children before killing himself. one of the kids, 14-year-old,turely, was a junior firefighter. and darcy spencer has more.

airy. a neighborhood mourns the loss of an entire family killed in an apparent murder/suicide. good evening, i m adam may. maryland state police have confirmed a man murdered his wife and children and then took his own life. the incident took place inside a home in may i have a minute airy in frederick county. wjz is live outside state police headquarters. suzanne collins explains the motive for the deaths is unclear but the family was having some financial problems. reporter: the police are now saying jennifer dalton and the couple s two children were shot once in the head in their beds as they slept and that charles dalton the father turned that shotgun on himself. in mount airy people who knew the victims honor them with momentos of love, stuffed animals and flowers. police say charles dalton, sr., the father, killed his wife jennifer, his son charles, jr., 14, and his daughter emmaline, 7. his cousin lives with us and they play together and chevis there last sunday. v

a father kills his two children, his wife, the family dog, then himself. so far no suicide note. just lots of questions in a community struggling and searching for answers. i m craig melvin. police believe 14-year-old charlie and 7-year-old emma line dalton were killed thursday. charlie was a junior volunteer firefighter for the squad that ended up responding for calls for help from the dalton home. darcy spepser starts us off tonight. reporter: at the mount arie fire station firefighters spring into action. here they are doing their jobs with heavy hearts. a junior firefighter, charlie dalton jr. was killed at the hands of his own family a murder/suicide that left the whole family dead. charlie was a likable kid. he was enthusiastic about his duties. reporter: 38-year-old charles dalton jr. killed his wife jennifer and two kids, 14-year-old charlie and 7-year-old emmaline. each was shot once. they were found in their beds. the bodies found in their home friday evening
