After the pandemic shut down Wilmington bars and restaurants last March, longtime local musician Jared Cline found himself in a tight spot.
Cline, an adept guitarist and a strong rock/soul singer and songwriter, makes his living playing gigs, many of them solo or duo performances, at spots downtown, the beaches and elsewhere. But after logging his final pre-pandemic gig in Wilmington on March 6 of last year, his next in-person performance wasn t in the Port City, but rather at Murrells Inlet in South Carolina on May 22. (He wouldn t play another gig in Wilmington until mid-June of 2020.)
Since then, he said, he s been playing in South Carolina three to six nights a week, everywhere from Myrtle Beach to Pawleys Island.
