The rate of COVID vaccination among Iowa kids could depend on how many of them feel like Jennessa Brown who figured she might as well get it done when the opportunity presented itself.
Brown, 17, is a junior at Des Moines’ North High School, where vaccinations were offered in the gym recently to anyone 16 or older. The shots aren t required, but they re a good idea, she said. And she expects that at some point, they ll become mandatory in schools.
“Most of my friends see it as inevitable,” she said. “They’re either going to get it now, or they’ll have to get it later anyway.” She added that some of her friends have decided to be vaccinated even though their parents have not.
