Congratulations to the Duluth City Council, which passed a climate-emergency declaration for the city on April 12. Congratulations and appreciation are also due to local community members who recognize the need for climate action and that we have a limited window of opportunity to avoid a worst-case scenario of human and environmental damage.

For the past week, I ve been reading This is the Way the World Ends by Jeff Nesbit. He talks about the need to start navigating the causes of climate change and stop simply navigating its effects. Nesbit argues that we can get out of what he calls this box canyon by trying to understand the climate realities and changing the exhaustive climate conversation to one that s relevant to every person.
In the chapter, A Path Forward, he writes about changing our conversation about climate change in what he calls important and meaningful ways about our energy sources and their impact on Earth s climate.
