Ohio State Wins Tri-Meet with Season-High 196 400

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The No. 22 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team (6-3, 5-2 Big Ten) won its third meet in a row with a season-best 196.400 on Sunday in a tri-meet with Maryland and Penn State. The Terrapins came in second with a score of 196.275 and the Nittany Lions scored a 195.925 to finish third. Ella Hodges earned the title of beam queen after her stunning routine received a score of 9.950. It was a career mark for the sophomore and the highest score by a Buckeye on any apparatus this season. She is only the third Big Ten gymnast to score a 9.950 on beam this year.

Individually, four gymnasts won at least a share of three events titles, led by season-high scores from Elexis Edwards on vault (9.875) and Jenna Swartzentruber on beam (9.850). Colby Miller earned the bars title with a 9.850.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The No. 24 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team improved to 4-3 on the season with a 195.950-194.050 victory over Rutgers on Sunday at the Rutgers Athletic Center. The Buckeyes claimed every team event title and tied their season best on vault (48.975). Individually, four Buckeyes won at least a share three events titles, led by a season-high scores from Elexis Edwards on vault (9.875) and Jenna Swartzentruber on beam (9.850). “We faced a lot of adversity today and rallied to get another good road score,” said head coach Meredith Paulicivic. “This team continues to fight, improve and build confidence every week.”

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team (3-3, 3-2 Big Ten) upset a pair of ranked Big Ten opponents with a season-high 196.375 to win its 2021 home opener at the Covelli Center on Sunday afternoon. No. 20 Illinois finished second with a score of 196.075 and No. 17 Michigan State scored a 194.500 to place third. “The greatest thing about today was that it wasn’t the ideal dreamy start at home,” said head coach Meredith Paulicivic. “We left the door wide open and this team fought all the way through. They got better as the meet went on and learned that fighting until the end can really pay off. It was great to see this young team figure it out.”

Home Opener Sunday vs Michigan State, Illinois

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team will compete in the Covelli Center for the first time this season when it hosts No. 17 Michigan State and No. 20 Illinois on Sunday at 4 p.m. in a tri-meet. The competition will air live on the Big Ten Network. WEEKLY BASICS LAST TIME OUT Ohio State (1-3, 1-2 Big Ten) finished second at a tri-meet with Michigan State and Nebraska last Saturday with a team score of 195.325. As a team, Ohio State claimed the vault title with a 48.975, which tied its season high. Five Buckeyes won shares of three event titles. Elexis Edwards and Sydney Jennings earned a share of the vault crown with scores of 9.825 while Colby Miller and Jenna Swartzentruber shared the bars title with a pair of 9.850s. Alexis Hankins tied for first on floor behind a 9.875.
