NEW BERN, N.C. Tried by Fire, a nonprofit in New Bern, is working to set up a transitional house for women coming out of prison. The project is called My Sister s House, and it s the first all-women house of its kind in the surrounding seven counties of eastern North Carolina.

The one year anniversary is coming up in March
Every Saturday Tanya Lewis and a group of volunteers spend the morning making hundreds of hot dogs, peanut butter and jelly and home-cooked turkey sandwiches.

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. – Farmer s markets have become more popular throughout 2020. This means that last year was an exceptionally good year for small farm owners. Joe and Rachel Shenk have owned Shenk Family Farm since 2017. It takes a lot of hard work and long hours, but the farm is something they are committed to and passionate about.
