More information found over the last seven days has turned an investigation of a body found in Jacksonville into a homicide investigation.
Officials with the Jacksonville Police Department say at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday officers responded to a call to check on a person in the area of Ellis Boulevard and White Street. Jacksonville City Streets Division personnel were clearing the ditch area when they saw a body located in the wooded area adjacent to a creek.
The workers led officers to the body of Jenna Franks, a transgender woman from Jacksonville. JPD explained the information about the investigation was initially withheld until Franks family members could be notified.
