Pella Boys Continue Late-Season Surge; Girls Start Playoffs Tonight

Pella finished the 2020-21 regular season on a surge as they dominated Mt. Pleasant 81-49 Tuesday night in a non-conference game. The No. 5 in Class 3A Dutch exploded in the 3rd quarter with a 29-9 margin over the Panthers, starting the continuous clock mercy rule for the final 12 minutes of action to head into the playoffs on a four game winning streak and their average margin of victory approaching 30 points per contest in their last five victories. Pella had four players score in double figures, including 25 from Grant Nelson, 17 from Noah Allen, 13 from Karl Miller, and 12 from Parker Elder. The Road to the Well begins Monday and will go through Pella High School, as the Dutch host Centerville in the Class 3A Substate Opener. New owners of vintage Bar Harbor B&B to add wellness retreat

The new owners of an old bed-and-breakfast in Bar Harbor view it not only as a beautiful innkeeping opportunity but a chance to add a vacation-based wellness and personal development retreat. Jeff and Jena Young bought the Yellow House Bed & Breakfast from Pat and Chris Coston for $1.325 million.  Pat Coston, who is also a broker with Swan Agency Real Estate s Hospitality Brokerage, represented herself and her husband in the deal. Kimberly Swan, also with Swan Agency Real Estate s Hospitality Brokerage, represented the Youngs, who also own two popular downtown eateries Side Street Cafe and Thrive Juice Bar & Kitchen. The deal closed Dec. 30.

  In a game that came down to the wire, the Carroll Tigers were unable to come back and win on Saturday against Winterset. The day for the Tigers started off slower than they would have liked it, unable to get shots to fall for them. Winterset used the Tigers’ slow start to go up 12-2 in the first quarter and end up at 31-20 at halftime.    The second half for the Tigers was much improved as they started to chip away at the Huskies lead. The Tigers would go on a 9-4 run to start the third quarter and would end up down three at 38-35. Kennedy Lein and Gabi Hammer were the two taking charge and attacking the basket against Jena Young for Winterset in the third to get them down three heading into the fourth quarter. The Tigers had the chance to take back the lead in the fourth quarter, being down by one point multiple times. Head coach Katie Kock says her team had great looks in this quarter, but were unable to sink in the crucial shots to gain the lead. The Tigers would be down
