Why Moragne Park has been closed since the start of the pandemic
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended on multiple occasions that outdoor activities while maintaining appropriate distance from others are one of the lower-risk activities people can do.
These activities are harder to complete when outdoor recreation facilities are closed to the public, however. For instance, Gadsden s Moragne Park on Albert Rains Boulevard has been closed since the start of the pandemic and has not reopened.
That has prompted much social media conversation and consternation, especially since the park underwent a $2.2 million renovation project that kept it closed for nearly a year before it reopened in March 2019.
