The school board set in motion a process to ask voters in November to pass a $220 million bond referendum to support the Cedar Rapids Community School District’s facility master plan. The board adopted ballot language, so now a volunteer committee will organize to rally support.
Superintendent Tawana Grover says the school board will take another look at middle schools based on feedback from Cedar Rapids City Council during a joint meeting this week.
The two-phase plan includes new middle schools and a stronger emphasis on career and technical education. “We want to make sure when our city is going out attracting industry to our community, that they can look to our school district and say we are preparing the future workforce,” said Superintendent Tawana Grover.
