Commencement is beginning for Sheridan College graduates – Sheridan Media

Jen Crouse, vice president of student affairs and executive director of the Sheridan College Foundation, gave the commencement address, sharing her story of the car accident that put her in a wheelchair, and almost ended her life, at age 16 and how she re-found her “inner fire.” Commencement speaker Jen Crouse. She urged the graduates to find their own inner fire when their situations get tough. In an interview with Sheridan Media before the graduation ceremonies, Crouse said excitement over the in-person graduation was really, really high this year. Graduation ceremonies were canceled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and resultant shutdown of activities across the state and nation.

After having been canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, graduation ceremonies will be in-person at both the Gillette and Sheridan College campuses this year – and excitement is high. Wendy Smith, who’s an associate vice president with the Northern Wyoming Community College District, said that’s what she’s seeing. Smith said with approval of both state and local health officials, the two colleges will be able to relax safety guidelines slightly. She said those attending the events will be asked to social distance, but masks will be optional. Events at Sheridan College will start at 8 a.m. Saturday with the pinning ceremony for the nursing program students. That will be in Kinnison Hall in the college’s Whitney Center for the Arts. At 10:30 a.m., also in Kinnison Hall, a pinning ceremony will be held for dental hygiene students.

College graduation ceremonies to be in-person this year – Sheridan Media

Graduation ceremonies for students of the Northern Wyoming Community College District will be in-person this year. Dr. Walt Tribley, president of the college district, said ceremonies at Gillette College will be at 7 p.m. Friday, April 30, and at Sheridan College at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1. In Sheridan, the ceremonies will be in the campus’s Golden Dome, Tribley said. Ceremonies at Gillette College will be in the Pronghorn Center. Public graduation ceremonies at both colleges were canceled last year because of the COVID-19 shutdown. Jen Crouse, Sheridan College’s vice president of student services, will be speaker at the Sheridan College ceremonies.
