Queen pays tribute to Dunblane

UPI Archives By (0) LONDON, March 17 Britain s Queen Elizabeth II and her daughter Princess Anne visited the Scottish town of Dunblane Sunday where 16 children and their teacher were gunned down last week. They met with staff from the Dunblane primary school and emergency services who were involved in the massacre and its aftermath. The queen laid a wreath outside the Dunblane Primary School where the gunman found his victims. She then visited Stirling Royal Infirmary, where five children and two teachers were still recovering from gunshot wounds. Another three children were recovering in Glasgow s Yorkhill hospital. Earlier Sunday, airports, railway stations, shops and television channels united across Britain for a minute s silence in tribute to the victims of the slaughter. More than 1,000 people attended a memorial service at Dunblane cathedral. The service took on added poignancy as it was held on the same day as Britain s Mother s Day celebration. We have received
