OTTAWA The first vaccine to protect against COVID-19 has been approved for use in Canada, which has set in motion the first round of distribution and plans for how future vaccines will be administered, including a plan to have everyone who wants to be, immunized by the end of 2021. While touting Health Canadaâs approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, federal officials unveiled a new document outlining the overall timeline and approach to Canadaâs national mass vaccination effort. The target? Immunizing as many people as possible, as quickly as they can in 2021. The plan is to focus on priority groups between December and March 2021, begin vaccinating the general population in April, and have all Canadians immunized by the end of next year, with one of the seven vaccines Canada has signed deals to secure.
