Two football teams in the Metro 4A Conference came into the final week of the regular season undefeated. On Friday, Grimsley came away with the conference title with a 42-36 win at Northern Guilford.

Grimsley opens Metro 4A play with dominant win over High Point Central

Grimsley s football team continued its dominant start to the season with a 49-6 win over Metro 4A Conference foe HIgh Point Central at A.J. Simeon Stadium on Thursday.
The Whirlies (3-0, 1-0), led up front by four-star defensive tackle Travis Shaw, held the Bison (1-2, 0-1) to just 73 yards from scrimmage for the entire game.
Offensively, Grimsley scored on every possession until the end of the game, when it ran out the clock. Junior quarterback Alonza Barnett III proved effective for the Whirlies both in the passing game (14-of-22, 63.6 completion percentage, 236 yards, three touchdowns) and the running game (seven carries for 86 yards,12.3 yards per carry).
