GUWAHATI: When there might be boundless criticism of incidents of cops firing on criminals, three offenders have been shot at by cops in two separate incidents after they attempted to escape while making an endeavor to escape from custody by opposition events in Assam. In the essential incident, two affirmed ganja smugglers have been shot at by cops after they attempted to escape in Srirampur on Friday evening. Prateek Thube, SP Kokrajhar, expressed dependent on intelligence inputs, a truck was blocked at Srirampur and upon intensive checking, around 840 kg of ganja worth Rs 2 crore was recovered from a secret compartment. This kind of crime in Assam is intolerable.
GUWAHATI: At a time when there is widespread criticism of incidents of police firing on criminals while trying to escape from custody by opposition parties in Assam, three offenders were shot at by men in uniform in two separate incidents when they tried to flee.
In the first incident, two alleged ganja smugglers were shot at by cops when they tried to flee in Srirampur on Friday night. SP (Kokrajhar) Prateek Thube said based on intelligence inputs, a truck was intercepted at Srirampur and upon thorough checking, about 840 kg of ganja worth Rs 2 crore was recovered from a hidden compartment. “While recovering another 10 kg of ganja, which the accused had hidden along the highway, the two accused attacked the police personnel & tried to escape. In order to stop them, the police team resorted to control firing in which both the accused were grievously injured,” the SP added.

The Twitter handle of Chief Minister Assam posted, CM @himantabiswa today donated Rs 3 Lakh to Chief Minister s Relief Fund as personal contribution towards procurement of #Covid vaccine. Through the contribution, the CM intends to help in strengthening the campaign against the pandemic while playing his part in the #janandolan.
