MENOMINEE A former Memominee County Sheriff’s Department deputy is facing additional sexual assault charges.
Brian William Helfert, 57, of Menominee, was arraigned before Judge Robert J. Jamo in the 95-A District Court, Menominee, on April 30 following his recent arrest on an 11-count felony complaint. Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey T. Rogg charged Helfert with Child Sexually Abusive Activity, four counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct-First Degree, three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct-Third Degree, Assault with Intent to Commit Penetration, Gross Indecency Between Males and filed a Sexually Delinquent Person Notice.
An investigation by the Menominee Police Department led to Helfert’s arrest.

MENOMINEE A former Menominee County Sheriff’s Office sergeant who served as a school resource officer has been accused of sexually assaulting an individual over a six-year span.
Brian Helfert, 57, of Menominee, was arraigned Friday in the 95-A District Court on charges of child sexually abusive activity, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison; four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, punishable by life or any number of years in prison; three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, a 15-year penalty; two counts of assault with intent to commit sexual penetration, a 10-year felony; and gross indecency between males as a sexually delinquent person, a felony punishable between one day and life in prison.

MENOMINEE, MI – A former Upper Peninsula sheriff’s deputy who was sentenced to jail last year related to sexual assault accusations is now charged with 11 more felony sex crimes, WLUC reports.
Brian Helfert, former sergeant with the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office, was arraigned Friday, April 30 on 11 felony counts: four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, which involves penetration and comes with a max penalty of life in prison; three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct; assault with intent to commit penetration; child sexually abusive activity; and gross indecency between males, the TV station reports. A sexually delinquent person notice was also filed against him.
