Hunter who shot and killed teen watching sunset is going to prison, PA official says Mike Stunson, The Charlotte Observer
A hunter who sparked a two-month manhunt last year after killing a teenager at a Pennsylvania state park was sentenced to a prison term Wednesday, officials say.
Kenneth Troy Heller, 52, was sentenced to seven to 20 years in prison following the October death of 18-year-old Jason Albert Kutt, according to the Buck’s County District Attorney Matt Weintraub.
Kutt was sitting at the edge of a lake at Nockamixon State Park waiting to watch a sunset with his girlfriend when he was shot in the back of the head, McClatchy News previously reported. He died two days later.

Bucks County hunter jailed in fatal juvenile shooting in Nocamison State Park
A Warminster man shot and killed a teenager in Nocamison State Park last fall. He will be detained for 7 to 20 years after confessing to multiple charges related to the October incident on Wednesday.
On October 24, 52-year-old Kenneth Troy Heller was hunting in Bedminster State Park when he fired a shot at the lake. Heller thought his target was an animal, but instead attacked 18-year-old Jason Kurt, who was with his girlfriend and recently graduated from Penrich High School. Kurt was shot in the head and suddenly passed out and died two days later.
Immediately afterward, Heller fled the scene and attempted to hide evidence of his involvement, prosecutors said.
Kutt s girlfriend had reported to police that she saw a man wearing an orange vest leave the area of the Old Ridge Road gate with hunting gear. Her emotional 911 call was played at Wednesday s sentencing hearing.
Days after Kutt s death, police began a search for three vehicles that witnesses had seen in the area around the time of the shooting. One of the vehicles was traced to Heller.
Detectives who interviewed Heller s co-workers learned that the Heller did not report to work the Monday after the shooting. He was visibly shook up when he returned the next day, and co-workers said Heller gave away guns, ammunition and hunting gear shortly after, according to prosecutors.
