JERSEY CITY, NJ – Just 10 months after the demolition of Jersey City’s Casino in the Park restaurant, developers received approval at Tuesday’s planning board meeting to construct a new eatery at its former location.
The project, directed by the Hudson County Improvement Authority (HCIA), proposed the creation of a three-story venue with a capacity of 740 patrons in Lincoln Park on West Side Avenue. Landmark Hospitality a management group that oversees several restaurants and catering halls across New Jersey and Pennsylvania will build and operate the facility.
“There’s been a number of community meetings, and we were hoping to be in the ground already, and then COVID hit, and that sort of set everything back,” Norman Guerra, CEO of the HCIA, said. Guerra expected construction to begin this spring, with completion slated for early next year.
