It s really like family support, said Kari Wright, a client of the babysitting service.
Wright is a single mother of three and a visiting nurse in New Bedford. With daycare and schools closed in the summer and early fall due to COVID, she relied heavily on her own mother and father to look after her children ages 2, 7 and 9. Her mother is a nurse and her father is a fisherman, so finding a babysitter was a priority for Wright because she was tired of shuffling her kids between houses. After asking for recommendations for a trustworthy babysitter in the SouthCoast Mamas and Babies Facebook group, owner Jennifer Potter reached out to her and informed her of her other business, Mamas and Babysitters.
Kittery council: Two ex-councilors surveilled female town workers
KITTERY, Maine The Town Council s remaining five members have broken their silence on the reasons behind the recent resignations of ex-councilors Charles Denault Jr. and Kenneth Lemont.
Denault and Lemont took it upon themselves to conduct an investigation in violation of the town charter that included surveillance of women who work for the town,
according to the Kittery Town Council in a statement released Thursday night. Denault and Lemont resigned rather than face repercussions for their actions, the remaining councilors stated.
The council s statement says Denault, who is a retired Kittery police officer, and Lemont, who was the council s vice chair, launched their own investigation into town personnel for actions they perceived as problems.” The statement adds the proper action would have been for Denault and Lemont to immediately report any concerns they had to Town Manager Kendra Amaral.
