EDMONTON Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson says he likes what he s heard so far about the proposed urban gondola being debated at city hall. Members of council spent much of Tuesday listening to a long list of speakers voice their support or objections to the proposed privately-funded project from Edmonton-based Prairie Sky Gondola. I think it solves an access egress issue that we ve had in and around Rossdale, Iveson told CTV News Edmonton during a video conference Tuesday afternoon. People are so excited about what the power plant could mean, he said. But if you can t get people smoothly in and out of it than it s really hard to contemplate something that would be economically viable.

EDMONTON Edmonton could soon be one big step closer to connecting two city hubs across the river valley with a new gondola. It s been just over one year since city council asked administration to work with Edmonton-based company Prairie Sky Gondola to determine the feasibility of building a gondola across the North Saskatchewan River. Next Tuesday, the gondola company will present its work to city councillors and try to back up its claim that the project would not only be good for Edmonton, but also profitable. Over the past year we ve really invested in the development of our business case and we really invested in negotiating the master agreement framework, Prairie Sky Gondola president and CEO Jeffrey Hansen-Carlson told CTV News Edmonton.
