is not true. we know the frustration and the anger that we saw trump approach some reporters with after the hearing, suggesting that he was a bit rattled. i know his aides said he was fine and he was, perhaps, pleased with how things went but the attacking he led into after hearing that, it could very well be possible that he could be charged after leaving office and is something i think democratic lawmakers will count as a win as they move forward in finding out ways to remove this president from office as soon as possible. let s stay on that. we knew days before robert mueller s testimony he would not be providing new information. he would not be providing information regarding what led to the investigation. but when republicans asked robert mueller if it was a hoax, the american people had a chance to hear again that 34 people were charged because of the investigation. seven guilty pleas.
investigation yielded 199 criminal charges. yeah. that is absolutely right. you know, public sentiment is a hard thing to talk about because public sentiment in westport, connecticut and zanesville, ohio mean very different things. what i mean is if you agree with me there is no way this president is removed through impeachment, 2020, there are five or six states that are all important to the 2020 election and i think public sentiment in those states in particular is particularly important if you are thinking about 2020 which of course is not the only thing you think about with respect to impeachment. it is a very big and divisive thing. i think there are a lot of americans out there, i know there are a lot of americans who say i know this president is a liar. he doesn t even try to hide it. i know he has done an awful lot of bad things but i like him because of x, y, z. this is something we democrats need to be careful about. when i talk to my friends in the midwest they say you kno
african-american men. joining me now from indianapolis, nbc news road warrior vaughn hillyard at the national urban league conference where both candidates spoke today. vaughn, help us understand this. we know that the feud began yesterday. is it living on? reporter: no, both men appeared here in indianapolis earlier today and cory booker was making the case here to folks in indianapolis of what electability means. he said that you should turn to a candidate who has been there representing folks on the issue of criminal justice not just this year but going into the past. and it was joe biden, though, as you just heard in that bite, who said he d be happy to go on that debate stage and go through each other s records saying that, hey. folks should maybe even look at cory booker s tenure as the newark mayor and the police department s stop and frisk policy. the doj opened up an investigation into the department in newark in 2011. polling indicates there is, polling out of south carol
but he also know his residence in new york, wexner basically gifted to epstein. now the board is getting involved? yeah, there s a development here that s interesting. it s cryptic to a certain degree because they say they have opened up an investigation connected to jeffrey epstein. not a lot of details what that means they did come out with a statement that jeffrey epstein worked as wexner s personal money manager for a period of time, not for l brands specifically. and that they are looking into it. so it raises a number of questions. the question to me, how do you end up les wexner s personal money manager, when you have no track record of managing anyone else s money? you get one of the richest guys in america. a lot of question. stephanie, thank you. coming up, the democrats are at a cross roads impeach president trump or move on. we re going to look at the party s strategy as we get closer and closer to the 2020 primaries. it s tough to quit smoking cold turkey.
defend the indefensible. that report was incoherent as written and it was worse as played out on live tv. i mean, it was a terrible, terrible waste of taxpayer money. i think it was an important step in the right direction. bob mueller confirmed the principal findings of his investigation, which was thoroughly done and conducted with integrity. we now can put collusion and conspiracy to rest. there is no more democrats can run to a camera and say there is collusion in plain sight, conspiracy this. he put that to rest completely yesterday. what you saw yesterday was robert mueller sucking the life out of the impeachment movement all together. republicans are very happy with how it went. let s start with nbc s garrett haak live in mccomb, michigan talking to voters. you are in a swing district. sure for us politicos we re saying yesterday the world was watching but i m not sure everybody out there across the country what were people telling you about yesterday s testimony, thei
