The African National Congress (ANC) in the Western Cape has suspended its councillors in Kannaland and instituted disciplinary proceedings against them. The ANC held its Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) meeting on Sunday where the decision was made.
The embattled Kannaland Municipality has been left leaderless as a legal battle and political suspensions overshadow the functionality of the municipality.
Earlier this month, a vote of no confidence saw the town s mayor and convicted rapist Jeffrey Donson, his deputy Werner Meshoe and several Icosa members booted out.
The embattled Kannaland Municipality in the Western Cape could very well be the first to collapse, following a failed coalition post the local government elections.
