visit to south carolina. there was a gop candidate, carly fiorina, she was there also trying to steal some of the spotlight. how d that go? cnn senior washington correspondent jeff zellny here with more. the republican field is so crowded. the best way to break out of the pack is to try and distinguish yourself from hillary clinton. so that s exactly what carly fiorina was trying to do. i m not sure she stole the show but she perhaps borrowed a bit of the spotlight. but hillary clinton did not pay much attention to carly fiorina. she was there for the first time since 2008 after that punishing defeat against barack obama. she wanted to reintroduce herself to south carolina voters. and we heard a line we haven t heard from her before. let s take a listen. all our presidents come into office looking so vigorous. by the time they leave they re as white as the building they live in. now, let me tell you, i m aware i may not be the youngest candidate in this race.
hillary clinton has been slammed by her republican rivals for not taking enough questions from the media but today she will take questions from a different group, small business owners and potential voters in the all-important state of iowa. the meet and greet part of clinton s second trip to iowa. it takes place as a new controversy swirls around the candidate involving reports of e-mails with a longtime adviser while discussing conditions in libya. senior washington correspondent jeff zellny joins me from cedar falls to tell me more. reporter: the biggest question is when hillary clinton will take questions from reporters but also from regular iowans. we don t know if it will happen today. it s been 28 days since she s taken a question. the reason it matters is this. even some of her democratic supporters are saying she needs to be more clear on her position. she naeds to be more clear on where she stands but most
clinton for her campaign fund-raising goals. i read secretary clinton intends to raise $2.5 billion for her campaign she wants to then get the corrupting money out of politics. that s classic, right? it s classic politician speak. reporter: so how long is it going to take hillary clinton to get into this sorry, how long is it going to take the governor of new jersey to get into this race? pretty much anybody s guess. but he did tell a crowd here at a town hall that it might be the end of the spring or early june. the end of the spring early june not that far away. we ll see what happens. thanks joe jornshns for that. gloria borger jeff zellny mia mallika, thanks very much. how much a problem this is bridgegate? i think we ve seen it already already. he s not in the top tier of
it depends on what happens with these indictments, to get back to jeff s point. but i think he will run. i don t think people are expecting him to get indicted. so i think he s going to have to answer a lot of questions. he s going to have to get through that. i d be very surprised at this point if chris christie did not run. i will say that his part of the field is getting kind of crowded, you know. with jeb bush you didn t expect jeb bush to run. you have jeb rush chris christie i think that s going to be a challenge. a challenge indeed. hillary clinton, she s out there campaigning now in iowa. she took a very firm position today on same-sex marriage going beyond some of her earlier statements. she did, through a written statement though. she didn t talk about this out loud. her campaign released a statement saying she supports the legalization of same-sex marriage which she has not said as recently as last fall saying it should be up to state rshts she is coming out with this
